Allergic allergic reaction + swollen lymph nodes?
A few days ago I experienced an allergic reaction to an exfoliating cleanser. It caused a nasty impetuous to appear on my neck, behind my ears and along my hairline.
rash is nearly gone in a minute, but today I noticed a swollen lymph node behind each ear (each roughly speaking the size of a small jelly bean), and a smaller one in my groin.
I know swollen lymph nodes can indicate various conditions ranging from infections to something as serious as cancer, but have anyone experienced swollen lymph nodes from (topical) allergic reactions?

Answers: I have no idea if this is typical - the swollen lymph nodes (or at smallest the one in your groin) may be entirely unrelated. I'm not a doctor, but from my immunology class, swollen lymph nodes tend to go down contained by about two weeks if they aren't stimulated further. Don't go prodding them every day waiting for them to jump back to normal size - mechanical trauma from poking them too tough will also make them swell.
You could have a swollen lymph node from a cut or scratch as in good health as an infection (and it doesn't seem too unreasonable to be caused by an allergic reaction). If the rash persist beyond the next few days or the lymph nodes are still swollen in a few weeks, go see a doctor. Maybe you can write "check glands" on your calendar for May 15th and purely forget about them until then unless they become painful.
