Do chihuahuas really assist allergies?

I heard from my mom's friend that chihuahuas help your allergies? Is it true? And my dad is allergic to dogs. Any way to fix it minus medicine? If not, any really good medicines you recomend? And newly saying, I'm not planning to get a chihuahua to help my dad seize rid of his allergies to dogs! That would be dumb! I was just wondering and didn't want to ask two seperate questions! I already hold a chihuhahua, so yeah.
Answers:    The dog itself won't cause alleriges.
ubt that they cure other allergies that they have nought to do with. If you are allergic to pollen, you will still be allergic to pollen after getting the dog.
No stupid, Chihuahuas don't have hair so they don't affect your dad's allergies. Dogs with pelt will affect your dad's allergies.

Oh wait that's right, Chihuahuas mythical creatures that have a magical force field and anything that is to say within 20 feet of the Chihuahua is unaffected by any allergy outbreak that might own occurred without the Chihuahua being around. Source(s): these are facts that hold been proven by Dr. Frankenstein and his lab partner Egor.
Perhaps your mother's friend was thinking of the recent studies which show that dog ownership can protect against the development of allergies in infantile children. This is due to endotoxin, a protein released from dogs (and other animals, particularly farm animals) that stimulates the immune system away from allergies. Infants living in homes beside indoor dogs are far less likely to wheeze compared to infants living in homes in need dogs.

1. Poodle and Poodle Hybrids
Poodles come surrounded by various sizes, colors and coat lengths. Recent cross-breeding with other breeds, such as cocker spaniels and Labrador retrievers, have been popular. Generally speaking, poodles shed less hair and dander, and for this reason cause fewer allergy symptoms.

If there is a dog in the house that someone is allergic to, regular grooming and bathing of the dog can back. It has been suggested that the fact that indisputable breeds of dog (including some of those listed above) are frequently bathed/groomed helps to reduce their talent to cause allergies. Also regular cleaning of any areas the dog normally sits can help. I enjoy heard that vacuum cleaners with Hepa filters relief but have not tested this myself.

I think dogs are great companion animals and in cases of incredibly mild allergies, the benefits of having a dog around can far out weigh the discomfort of the allergy. However, for more serious allergies the advice of a doctor should be sought. Source(s): http://allergies.around.com/od/specifical…
