Answers:    Does your chest surface tight? Is that what makes you cough?
not an expert, but I suffer from chronic asthma as well. My attacks are brought on by seasonal changes, especially during soaring pollen counts.

One of the tell-tale signs that I'm suffering from an asthma attack is that my chin will start to itch. Usually, this itching sensation is the only real sign I have because sometimes my breathing isn't severly impede. I also can tell when a severe attack will occur due to this foretelling sensation. :D So it helps me to prevent crucial attacks, so I actually look out for the itchy feeling during allergy season.

Again, I have no medical expertise but I similar to to think that the itching sensation is caused by blood vessels constricting. Most credible due to a lack of oxygen in the blood stream.

Changes in weather also affect my asthma. When there's be a large drop in temperature, especially at dark, I start to wheeze and my chest constricts. Also, I have problems in warmer weather. It's really with the sole purpose the humidity that brings it about; dry air doesn't really affect me.
after the long way around, this could possibly be asthma. But seeing as within are different types of asthma as well as other causes, I suggest that you see a doctor. If it is asthma, it's better to do something soon than wait until it starts affecting your lifestyle. Plus, in that are easy preventative measures as well as immediate-relief medications you can nick, so be sure to ask about it the next time you go. ^^

But until consequently, I recommend viewing this itchy sensation, not as a problem, but as your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. ^o^

However, here are some sites about this type of sensation...
