A press almost an insect bite that still hasn't gone away...?

In June, I went to Scotland and got bitten by a mosquito (a midgey bite) on my face. I am slightly allergic to the bites and I get the usual reaction; a large bump that was itchy, red and a bit ashen. The lump has completely gone but now I'm left beside a red blotch that's about two inches long. It itches sometimes. This has never happened to a bite of mine until that time. What could it be? Thank you!
Answers:
You may have developed a small granuloma which is basically a scar aversion, due to the bite.
Scottish midge is I am afraid notorious!

I think Dr frank is right. Use aloe vera lotion / cream anything, even the plant itself ,and it will heal it.
