Allergic Reaction Rash Problem?
So my boyfriend went into the dentist to get a root canal on friday. Then yesterday he have to go back in for the second division. During the second part the doctor realized (after putting in the unalterable filling) that he had not gotten all of the root. He had to re-drill out the nourishing and fix it. Then he had to put the filling and temp. cap on. It took five hours because of the mistake. They have to give him another dose of novicane because it took so long.
Anyways, he developed at red splotchy skin discoloration on his hands, arms, and knees. It did not itch or burn. It was not raise live hives. It wasn't swelling. It was just strange. They gave him some benedryl once they notice it at the doctors office. He went home and the next morning it be still there. But when you have a reaction approaching that, I am pretty sure it takes a few days to disappear. But today he went to work where he is an airplane mechanic and be in and out of the sun. It got extremely red! Much worse than that morning or the daytime before. It did not spread though. We called the doctor and he said the only article that could have triggered the reaction would be the Novocain since it was the individual drug injected into him. But my question is, when will it go away and why does it get redder within the sun? I would like some info if anyone has it! Thank you so much.
Answers: could he possibly be allergic to the latex used during the procedure?
Something is peculiar here, first a root canal and crown cannot be done two days in a row, just can't surface. Next even if he had a complete root canal with the essential work it doesn't take 5 hours so something is off there too. My guess is he ate something he shouldn't, used some drugs that interacted or something else not fairly right is going on here.
Heat will make hives worse since they're cause by inflammation. Basically, he should probably stay out of the sun and keep cool until it goes away. Keep taking Benadryl, and if he can cold showers (instead of hot).
