Why do they still serve peanuts on airplanes?

A friend of mine has a child who is deathly allergic to peanuts. If he is exposed to them (not only ingest, but smell or touch a surface peanuts have be on), his throat will close up, and if he does not receive medical care, he could die. On his way home from vacation, he must own been exposed to nuts and had an allergic reaction. Luckily he is fine, but it make me wonder, with so many peanut allergies, why do they still serve peanuts on flights?
Answers:     If they take away peanuts they might have to lose money.
If they still have them you should see an allergy free zone, some airlines have that.
I don't know but I give attention to they should. No other food allergy has the potential to be deadly from inhaling particles contained by the air. So, people that say other things should not be served are not benevolent that we are not upset b/c our child cannot eat the in flight snack. It is b/c the peanut dust from every person hole a bag of peanuts gets in the upper air and can cause anaphylactic shock.

I dunno. Why do bakeries still use eggs in cake? Why does our school paint Easter eggs? My son is deathly allergic to eggs. Same as your friend's peanut allergy.
e the allergy is unfortunate, we can't dictate what everyone else should do. We have to help yourself to our own precautions based on our own personal needs.

If they switched to pretzels, then those near wheat allergies or celiac disease would have problems. If they switched to chocolate, those with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance would have a problem....
