Allergic to chinchillas?

My mom is allergic to cats and rabbits, and has a very mild case of asthma.
anyone know if she would as resourcefully be allergic to chinchillas? Is there any way to tell? I will be keeping him surrounded by my room with the door closed, so his hair will not be traveling around the house... would that make a difference?

-Thanks
Answers:    she probably is allergic to chinchillas. if u maintain him in your room the fur might get on your clothes and when you leave your room and see your mom......yeah, and my brother once have a chinchilla and it peed all over his walls and the smell was incredibly hard to catch rid of.
Generally it's not the chinchilla itself that causes allergies, it's the "stuff" you need to keep your chinchilla properly care for. The dust is a biggie. Loads of people can't handle the dust. It triggers asthma attacks, itching eyes, etc. If you use pine shavings for bedding, that too can cause allergies, as some citizens are allergic to the bedding. Hay, most of the time, is the biggest culprit for allergies with chinchillas. Your chin will need to have honest quality timothy hay available to him, and that may cause issues.
can get around the bedding by using fleece liner, but the hay or hay cubes are necessary for your chins dental health. The dust is also necessary to keep hold of your chins coat healthy and it's darn near impossible to contain it within one room. It travels everywhere.

If your mom already have asthma, I'd say you would probably be looking at her having problems with a chin. I am asthmatic, but beside 250 chins, I just choose to tolerate it. I wear a mask when I dust, put fans surrounded by the windows to suck it out of the barn, use my inhaler before cleaning cages, etc. Your mom most feasible won't be willing to do that.
