A few question on celiac?
ok, so my girlfriend has celiac, and i was wondering a few things about it.
doesn't mull over she can have whiskey, but i read somewhere that you can have liquor that has be distilled no matter what it comes from, what has been proven right for you?
the purpose i ask is that i'm worried that if i kiss her while i've been drinking i'll get her sick. maybe i'm a short time paranoid, but she's been getting sick more often since we started dating.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answers:
visit her GI doctor & discuss all concerns so you both have a handle on. also, attend her next appointment with the nutritionist. it's awesome that you care so much.
Most celiacs aren't that sensitive. Each person has a adjectives "eliciting dose", but whiskey should be fine. Pie filling should be fine.
problem for most celiacs is that they forget that gluten is found in things resembling soy sauce or sausage, not just wheat flour.
There isn't a yes or no answer to any of your questions. The answers are all conceivably and if anyone on here tells you differently, be careful.
The problem with whiskey is that yes it is distilled and that should get rid of the parts of grain that cause celiac disease. However, the distilleries add contained by colorings and some flavorings after the distillation and that means you have to check either online or next to the distillery for more information.
The thing to remember is that it doesn't take much gluten to cause problems surrounded by the intestines of someone with celiac disease. I read that just the amount of cake that would fit on the tip of a knife is satisfactory to cause a reaction, which is why the goal is to be so strict more or less a no gluten diet.
In the long run, if you eat the same as her when you eat contained by and make sure the kitchen is gluten free along with all the utensils and pan, then it is easier all around. Then when you eat out, you can writ your own food without a problem.
