What to do roughly an amoxicillan-induced unwary that have last 3 months?
A few months ago I had strep throat. I went to the dr's, who then prescribed amoxicillan. It cleared right up, but in the order of 2 weeks later I ended up with a imprudent all over my body; neck, back, torso, backside, and legs. Nothing on my face and hands though... they're slightly raised, red, and round. They are also pretty dry, but not incredibly itchy. I've done some research online and it seems to be accurate with an amoxicillan induced rash... I've never have a rash before, that I can remember, and it was with the sole purpose after taking the medicine.
ld taken benadryl (not a big fan) but I cannot find non-drowsy, and I also cannot function or wake up normally in the morning after taking it.
If anyone could recommend something crude, topical, whatever works!
I've been taking oatmeal baths, but that seems to merely dry it up, not get rid of it!
Thanks so much.... 3 months is wayyyyy too long to have this and I'm tired of having to cover up contained by embarrassment.
Answers: I'm also allergic to amoxycillin (antibiotic) [from the penicillin family]. Basically, whenever you see any doctor, you must inform doctor of your allergy.
For now, you just hold to stop the dosage, drink lots of water and wait for your body to flush it out of your system. Agree with you 3 months is mode too long for the effects to be still around.
I'm allergic to penicillin too! I had hives for 9 days. I had to get a shot of adrenalilne to return with rid of them. I can't ever take it again. You have to let your doctor know. In the adjectives make sure you never take any type of medication that contains penicillin.
