Breast cancer treatments?

besides, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, how else can you treat breast cancer?
can they just go right within an take out the lump? or do they hae to take out the whole boob? what are the circumstances usually?
Answers:     Um im not sure if within are any other/better treatments... my mom had chemo and it helped so much.
if the lump is small, they in actual fact do what is called a "lumpectomy",removing just the lump.the person will afterwards be on radiation for a few weeks,to make sure all the cancerous cells are gone.if here are large areas of cancer thru-out the breast,or if there has be a spreading of the cancer fromthe breast to other areas, the breast will be removed.at the same time,a new breast can be rebuilt right here on the operating table,so altho the persons original beeast is gone, there will be a trial one when they wake up-it is made with fat and skin from the tummy, thighs or buttocks,and/or silicone implant.the person will be given chemotherapy along with radiation and a drug like tamoxifen for going on for 5 years to make sure the disease doesnt return.best wishes,if some1 u know has this.my mom did, nearly 14 years ago,she made a full recovery and is fine very soon.had a lumpectomy with radiation.if it has spread to other organs, they will be removed as all right.
surgery is what you are missing.
they would probably still want to do some type of radiation treatments too, even if it is removing lone part of the breast.

During radiation treatments we met two women with stage 0 breast cancer, they had a lumpectomy and still did radiation.

So if any surgery is done on the breast it is likely to be followed by radiation treatments.

So probably the best case scenario would be the tumor going into a remission and lone doing chemotherapy.
-worker's wife sister had died of breast cancer, and so she decided to have her breasts removed. She did not obligation to go through chemotherapy or radiation. That is a pretty drastic measure, but the sister saw her sister die of it and did not want to herself.

Your oncologist would know what is best for your situation, all breast cancer's are different.

treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and biological therapy. For surgery, in that are two types: breast-sparing surgery (remove the cancer but not the breast) and mastectomy (remove the breast). Source(s): http://wisteme.com/question.view?targetA…
