How serious is colon cancer?

does it have better rate for curing the person of it, or is it fatal mostly?
Answers:    It is not mostly fatal. With good, swift treatment there is a unbelievably good survival rate. Only your oncologist can make the determination though. The answer to the basic cross-question of how serious is it is - very serious and it needs to be treated as soon as possible when diagnosed. Best wishes to you for a successful outcome. N is correct. If you run without having colonoscopies and there is a tumor within there, then you risk the chance of have cancer. I just had my test done 3 days ago and my Dr found 2 polyps which turn to cancer if they are overlooked. I still don't have my results, but anyone can die from colon cancer if they ignore symptoms or don't have colonoscopy. So It depends on the being. Do you want to have your colon examined or just not bother? The seriousness depends on you. My aunt had it but that be when test weren't done routinely. She had surgery and ended up next to a colostomy bag and lived. On the other hand, Katie Couric's husband died of colon cancer and that's when she went on a mission to receive people to be tested so that no one else has to be in motion through the heartache of loosing someone. I think it worked. More people are having these test now than 10 yrs ago. As far as having a better rate for being cured, I come up with when it's caught in the early stage, the chance of curing it is great. Letting it step can be fatal. So you have to be the judge and trademark up your mind what you want to do. Blessings Source(s): RN breast cancer survivor
N is correct within what she says. The earlier it is found, the better the chances of the personality involved. But, the will to fight for life has a strong position on survival rates, too.. Not by any means a guarentee in itself, fighting is a powerful weapon against Cancer.
Depends on the stage. If it is found early surgical resection can provide a pious outcome with or without chemotherapy or radiation. Once the tumor is large and begin to invade surrounding structures or spreads to other organs the prognosis poor.
