A quiz in the region of my Dads cancer. Serious put somebody through the mill Doctors simply please?
im 16 and my father has liver cancer. I havnt been able to natter to the doctors because he is being treated miles away in London.
cally due to having hepatitus B for oodles years without knowing, he has recently developed particularly agressive tumoors on his liver. The cancer has not spread. Only a small amount of his liver is functioning (about 10 % i think or about tht anyway). Many hospitals said they couldnt do anything and that he have 3 months to live ( this was about 2 months ago). However one hospital in London said they would try chemotherapy and started a couple of weeks ago.
But, his Kidney started failing a few days ago so he have many 'liquids' connected to him to keep his kidney going( not severe enough to be dialysis machine)
But surely he can basically be put on a dialysis machine during chemo. I know it sounds ridiculous keeping someone on chemo for weeks and weeks but is this a possibility.
Lets say the chemo is very influential and reduces the tumors size while on the dialysis machine enough to enjoy them surgically removed then surely the kidneys will begin to get better and he can be taken rotten the dialysis machine.
must be a possibility if the proteins dont work in making the kidneys better. Even if it has little unsystematic of working its better than just giving up

Answers: Based on the information that you provided, your Dad's bilateral acute renal failure is a direct result of his liver disappointment, caused by his advanced primary liver cancer, brought on by hepatitis B.
Your idea of kidney dialysis would not solve your Dad's multiple underlying problems. Furthermore, his overall condition may be so weakened that chemotherapy could be fatal upon infusion.
Unfortunately, your Dad's diagnosis apparently come at a late point in the disease progress. Liver cancer has a exceptionally poor survival rate in advanced stages.
uld suggest that he get a second medical opinion from a qualified oncologist, but you did mention that he have already been to several hospitals. Please find attached articles from the Merck Manual regarding renal failure and liver cancer (below) that will help out you better understand your Dad's situation.

Thats now how it works. If this be possible people would do it all the time. The chemo is not making his kidneys fail something else is, its biddable thats hes not on the machine. They are right, he can not be put back on chemo until his kidney is working. Im very sorry and my prayers will shift out.
