A examine in the order of kidney breakdown and hospice?
A girl I know is 22 years old. Last year she developed a 4 pound unclassified sarcoma in her abdomen, which be successfully removed. She has undergone chemo, and was doing reasonably ably for a bit, but recently things have taken a dramatic turn for the worse. I have be a bit out of touch, but this week we found out she has gone into complete kidney failure and has be sent home with Hospice. What should we expect? Can we hope and pray for a turn-around? Hospice is such a scary thought, and my only experience of it is near my grandmother. I don't want to think negatively, but what is the reality, and how long can we expect, as I'd like to be capable of get back across country to visit beside her before..if..anything happens.
Answers: may be it is a reversible kidney ruin
*look for it
Generally speaking, hospice is only brought in when a condition is considered terminal and at that point the only consideration is palliative to make her more comfortable (pain meds, oxygen, etc). I've heard of cases where Stage IV breast cancer patients can hold a sort of "temporary" hospice arrangement, but this is fairly unique and doesn't sound resembling it's applicable in a situation with kidney failure.
But for your other question, anyone here would only be guessing. If this was me and I truly wanted to see her again if she pass, I'd call a family member and of late ask outright. It's tough, of course, but it will help if you remember that they're likely getting asked something like this from all sorts of people. It's not an odd give somebody the third degree at all and they'll appreciate your concern.
