Ovarian cancer concern?

They had diagnosed me with stage 4 ovarian cancer. When they did my surgery they took out one ovary, my fallopian tube and omentum. They told me from what they saw it is stage 3. it had spread into my liver and lung. I am concerned that they did not do a hysterectomy. is it possible fro cancer to be contained by 1 ovary and get into your liver? The doctor said that your ovaries are conected to your blood stream and that is how mine got from the one ovary into my liver and lung. FOr my liver and lung they are doing tumor ablations first in the past doing surgery. Does this sound right, is it possible? They said they are going to do unltrasounds every 2 months to make sure it is not coming up on the other ovary. by the way I am 23
Answers:    Teresa - Stay near your treatment doctor. Yes, cancer of the ovary can spread to the lungs and liver in a couple of ways. One way is from the ovary into its vein and on to the heart and after the liver by way of blood flow. It does not have to involve the uterus or other ovary. Sometimes some ovary cancer cells within the belly can float in belly fluid across to the liver and grow there. I have certain several women who have successfully been treated and appear fully cured of ovarian cancer. Hang in within and work with your doctor. Source(s): a medical pofessional
