A query for anyone who know in the region of complex lymph nodes?

My son is nearly 12 months old, and a few days ago I noticed a hard lump on the subsidise of his head, maybe an inch or less above the floor of his hair line toward the left side. It's perchance the size of a dime.
re I say any more, yes, I am going to take him to the doctor's. Tomorrow is Monday and I'm calling in the morning to craft the soonest appointment. I'm just hoping that someone with knowledge on this can abet shed some light in the mean time.

Anyway. He is not sick nor have he been sick recently. For the past couple of weeks I enjoy seen him become suddenly irritated and immediately begin scratch behind his neck, often times departing scratch marks. Can this be from the lump? Are lymph nodes itchy?

Thank you.

Swollen lymph nodes combined with accompanying signs and symptoms are a common pretext that people, particularly children, visit their doctors.

Treatment for inflamed, swollen lymph nodes, also known as lymphadenitis, depends on the cause. In some cases, the passage of time and the use of over-the-counter twinge relievers and warm compresses may be all you need. For more serious cases, treatment of swollen lymph nodes involves treating the underlying rationale. Source(s): http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/swollen…
