A friend w/ovarian cancer?

she has had a few recurrences and the chemo is no longer working - a decision have been made to stop chemo and only give meds for comfort - her condition seems maybe ok otherwise.. not easy stuff but how long might she enjoy to live?
Answers:    Her prognosis will depend upon the cancer's spread, rate of spread, her age, and general health. The 5 year survival rate for all patients beside stage 4 ovarian cancer (most of whom are receiving treatment) is 10% to 20%. If chemo is stopped and no other medical interventions are planned, then her outlook is obviously poor.
uld not want to threat a time estimate. In a small number of cases, patients have been specified to stablize for long periods of time for no apparent reason. The more promising outlook is for a gradual decline in her overall health as the cancer spreads more widely and degrades more organs.

Sorry for your troubles. Attached is the Merck Manual website quotation on ovarian cancer. It has quite a bit of info. Source(s): http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec18/ch254/ch…
a good doctor would speak,
no patient has a real expiration date. zilch said or says how long she REALLY has to live. just similar to you, you're not going to expire by any given date, either.
k surrounded by every week or so, even if she says she's fine.
if you are able, tell her she can ring up you if she needs anything at all.

there are oodles types of ovarian cancer. if they took her off chemo she could have anywhere from less than 6 months, to several years gone.
e are patients out there that have survived ovarian cancer minus chemo.

please maintain a positive attitude. optimism might be all she has moved out.
