I am going for a biopsy, would close to to know will it hurt?
Also would like to know what kind of biopsy do you think will be done? The lump is not on my breast but within the middle like closer to the bone. When I went for the ultrasound they said that the lump was too solid to be a cyst and they believed it to be a nodule because you could not see right through it, and next to a cyst you can because it's just fluid. They also said it looked like something else was surrounded by it so they need to take a biopsy. Please leave your opinion!! I am very nervous and really can't take niggle nor needles!
Answers: There are different sorts of biopsies.
plunger biopsy, is just that, a fine needle is inseted into the suspected cyst and fluid is removed for biopsy. As far as I know they only do this for fluid chock-full areas. With mine, they injected local anasthetic first, which stings for about 3 seconds, then I feel nothing. No residual pain.
Solid core biopsy (description of this one scared me) they insert a thicker instrument beside a trigger device, which cuts off a small piece of the solid mass for biopsy. Again they injected local anasthetic first, which stings for about 3 seconds, later I felt nothing. No residual pain.
Next step up is a surgical biopsy.
I am guessing they will do a solid core biopsy. The only pain/discomfort was the initial local anasthetic for a couple of seconds, and near was a nurse delegated to my comfort who held my hand and talk to me the whole time.
The apposite news it you will most likely be put to sleep..so the surgery will not hurt at all..presently after the surgery you will have some pain..but they have moral pain killer now a days..So please don't verbs to much..I use to always get really nervous since all my tests and surgery's but after they were adjectives said and done...it was the worrying that hurt the most..

I've had several biopsies so I will share my experience with you. Some biopsies require you to be put to sleep (general anesthesia) and some require you to be awake, but the area will be completely numb (local anesthesia). I would assume that your particular biopsy would be done under local anesthesia because it is not being done on an internal organ. They will using a numbing medication to completely numb the nouns. Lidocaine is the most popular and will most likely be what they use. It will be administered with a needle (a small one) and will burn a bit when they inject it. Once the nouns is numb they will use a small instrument to take a sample of the nodule tissue which will be sent to a lab to be tested.
After the biopsy you will be a bit sore in that nouns. Tylenol or Ibuprofen should be sufficient unless they give you something else then rob that as directed. The procedure doesn't take long and you will feel no pain during the procedure.
year I have some muscle tissue on the back of my left shoulder (shoulder blade area) biopsied. The Lidocaine injections burned a bit, but were not tight and I felt absolutely no pain during the procedure. I be sore for about 4-5 days, but wasn't in pain after the procedure.
