42 years antiquated an possibility of have colon/rectal cancer....?
i have worked myself into a frenzy.I am a "overweight" yet healthy 42 year hoary white male who has worked out for 28 years.Last week i was tryin to drop a few pounds an took 2 laxatives to sustain me drop weight before a social event.I normally dont do this but I don`t know 2 times per year just to clean out.Anyway when the cramping an normal diahria started i be fine til about the 4th bowel movement (9pm)an i saw bright red blood. It bled next 4-5 movements an about 5am it started becoming solid again to the point at something like 7am,my last bowel movement my stool was half run of the mill an have bright red blood.Which was telling me diarhia subsided an i be goin back to normal,by 2-3 pm it was usual by the naked eye .Anyway i figured i better at least check next to my family doc an at 8:30 am i was at the office an saw a nurse practitioner.....here is how the conversation go.... she asked if i had hemoroids an i said no unless they are internal. She said well u most likely own a polyp an its probably cancerous an u need to schedule a colonoscopy an before decide who you wnat to do thsi procedure you wanna figure out who u would want to do a colon resection.i told her she was scaring me next to this talk an she just said well do u wanna die,you gotta do it.She did distribute me a rectal exam an said she couldnt feel anything like a hemmoroid or anything ......but i left the doctors bureau feeling like i had to hold cancer an i may die.I went to the surgeon who will do the colonoscopy friday an he said it could be alotta things an at my age an family history that cancer was unlikely. Now possibly he was just tryin to calm my fears but between this 1st nurse practionener i saw an what ive read on the internet im thinking perchance i do have rectal /colon cancer. i just bled that 1 time basiclaly although another day i used the restroom alot an saw traces of blood contained by my stool.but its clear by the naked eye now.But i look at the symptoms an think, blood ,thats me, smaller stool, thats me, (although i havent eat much),feel like i need to run but cant all the way or at leats feel resembling i didnt empty......so from anyone with knowledge what would u have a sneaking suspicion that? does it sound like colon/rectal cancer?
Answers: First of all, I'd resembling to smack that nurse! She is not qualified to make judgments on your health.... with the sole purpose doctors can do that. Some nurses don't think before they speak. I had JUST be diagnosed with stage 4 cancer when a nurse said i should be screened to see if "the disease" had spread to my brain. She upset the begeezies out of me.
or the blood, you taking those laxatives could have caused a small tear contained by your rectum. Happens with severe constipation a lot, so why not with an excess the other opening. And, you could have polyps or hemorrhoids and not know it.
Also, just get the colonoscopy. Everyone think its a horrible big deal, but it's not. Besides, the colon isn't part of your butt, it's part of your intestines, where on earth the food you eat gets processed for nutrients, and disposes of the waste. What you are discussion about is rectal bleeding.
SOunds like a colon upset by too tons laxatives to me!
The nurse needs some re-education if this is really the full picture of what she said. I don't think it's cancer, based on what the DOCTOR said. And even if it be, nurse was very inappropriate to threaten you next to death if you don't have a procedure, and to tell you to find a surgeon for resection even since a doctor has examined you and determined if there is even a chance of cancer.
dule a colonoscopy, that will notify if you have hemorrhoids and polyps. many people do hold polyps and are benign , they just snip them out. any family hx? just catch it done. Source(s): RN, have to get another one, too
Cancer have 4 stages .
If it gets to stage 4 then you are in big trouble.
your life depends on it.
Did you tell anyone you took 2 laxatives? Stop doing that! You are possible aggravating your colon.
Surgeons do not normally do colonoscopies, but he was correct in recounting you it probably isn’t cancer. Doctors do not say things just to try to calm the patients fears it is their mission to be factual and honest with you. The nurse was merely plain unprofessional.
ou had rectal cancer it would have been feel, but this does not rule out cancer in the remaining several feet of colon. Your symptoms are not typical of colon cancer and you would be considered very youthful to have it. Family history is irrelevant beyond second degree relatives. It doesn’t hurt to get a colonoscopy at your age at lowest it will give you a heads up on the health of your colon, but I wouldn’t verbs about cancer.
EDIT: Well there you go. The doctor is relating you pretty much the same thing I’m telling you. So why are you not believing it? Source(s): I am a cancer registrar.
