Am I within remission from my cancer?

I had non hodgkins lymphoma in my bone marrow but now it is gone completely. But my spleen is enlarged and my doctor doesn't know why. He doesn't know if I enjoy lymphoma in there causing it to enlarge or what. He recommended that I enjoy a spleenectomy but I am high risk for that because I have anemia and a clotting problem. He hasn't told me if I'm in remission, but am I if my cancer is gone from my bone marrow? what roughly my spleen? Any ideas, or any professional with experience have any answers for me or anything please.
Answers:    I'm not a doctor and lone your doctor can give you a proper answer.
spleen enlargement may be a sign that your lymphoma is not gone but has gone into your spleen. I don't know a whole lot more or less lymphoma but I know more about leukemia. My son E was diagnosed with a Wilms' Tumour as a newborn, won his affray, and was recently diagnosed with Secondary Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). Once he be diagnosed, we found out that his spleen and liver were enlarged - also symptoms of leukemia. Due to the extent of enlargement of his spleen, he had a splenectomy after a round of chemotherapy. He had his removed because it be so enlarged it was shredding his red blood cells. His liver is ok for now and doesn't pose a threat to him. So far he have had 3 strong doses of chemo, 1 consolidation dose and he's labeled as being in remission! He still have 4-6 rounds of consolidation chemo left just to make sure adjectives of the cancerous cells are gone.

I don't know what the risks vs. benefits would be for a splenectomy would be with a clotting problem. But, I can tell you that the solitary way you could be in remission is if no cancer is detected in your body - not a moment ago your bone marrow, but anywhere. The splenectomy is usually done by laproscopic surgery. If it is too large, as E's was, then spread out surgery is a safer option.

I hope this helped you out some and I hope you are in remission. If you own any more questions feel free to email me (crazycanuckj(a)yahoo.ca) or IM me (crazycanuckj). Source(s): My 2 year old son is a warrior who hit a Wilms' Tumour and is currently battling Secondary Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
