A few question in the order of bone scan and bone mets?

I had breast cancer last year and finished chemo in October. In December I started getting a lower stern ache. Had a bone scan in January which was clear. The rear legs ache keeps getting worse. Voltaren and pilates exercise has not help. It could just be side effects of Tamoxifen or Zoladex but I am anxious about bone mets. Is it too soon for another bone scan? Are there guidelines as to how commonly you can have one? Are they dangerous? How accurate are bone scans? Would it be better to ask for an MRI?

Answers:    Bone scan are the best exam to evaluate bone mets. MRIs are used for sot tissues. You should wait about 6 months for another one and you should discuss any and all concerns near your oncologist. Source(s): I am a cancer registrar.
Tamoxifen and Zoladex would not cause the pain that you are describing.

It is very possible that the cramp is unrelated to cancer. Many people experience lower back throbbing as they age and it can be aggravated by exercise. Are you sitting for long periods at a desk?

I appreciate your concern regarding metastasis to the bone, as that is the most adjectives recurrence type of breast cancer. It is not unreasonable to have another CT scan done, as it will reassure you if nothing is present. Source(s): http://www.chemocare.com/BIO/goserelin.a…
