Answers:     The previous answer said - If you become grossly over weight? wrong, I am not overweight and I have a good diet because I hold gallstones and do not eat fried foods but I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes finishing year and no one in my family have it? You have a higher chance of getting it if your mum have it, it is not a death sentence it is condition that means you have to organize a healthier lifestyle, avoiding the things that are bad for you - you should know that if your mum is a diabetic?
If they have become diabetic because they are grossly overweight, you can avoid this fate by keeping slim.
here is some genetic factor. A first degree relative (sister, brother, son, daughter) of someone with Type 1 diabetes has something like a 6 in 100 chance of developing Type 1 diabetes. This is higher than the hit and miss of the general population which is about 1 in 250. This is probably because confident people are more prone to develop auto-immune diseases such as diabetes, and this is due to their genetic make-up which is inherited.

One strong risk factor for developing Type 2 diabetes is a people history of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, or a personal history of gestational diabetes (diabetes during pregnancy). Although the risk for the general population is about five percent, people who hold a parent or sibling with the disease have an increased risk of about 10 to 15 percent. If that sibling is an tantamount twin, then the risk is almost 100 percent. However, this risk may not be entirely genetic. Because Type 2 diabetes is also triggered by a lifestyle that lead to obesity, twins may share a strong lifestyle similarity that puts them at similar risk.
