Am I really diabetic?
I had the three hour glucose test since i am pregnant and my numbers were; 97 fast, 148 at 1 hr, 146 at 2 hr and 128 at the three hr.
Answers: Mine were 87 fasting I thought that be borderline ask your doctor.
No you are not Diabetic. But you may have impair glucose tolerance (pre-diabetes)
nosis of gestational diabetes is as follows.
(Two or more of the following glucose levels must be equaled or exceeded.)
Fasting -- 95mg/dL (or 5.3mmol/L)
1 Hour -- 180mg/dL (or 8.6mmol/L)
urs -- 140mg/dL (or 7.8mmol/dL)
When was the concluding time you ate or drank anything before the first test, including coffee, soda, etc.? This could have artificial the first recorded level of 97mg/dL. But in sincerity 97 vs 95 is negligible, plus it's only one not 2 values that were met or exceeded.
t know anything about diabetes but maybe you should ask a doctor.
Hi,
It seem fairly normal to me. It is something to discuss with your doctor subsequent time you are in for a scheduled appointment. If the reading was above 200, afterwards I would recommend a special appointment, yet your reading is closer to normal.
Good Luck!
sounds like it but then again i'm not a doctor
those #s are pretty large, but don't forget with your pregnacy, your glucose will fluctuate. Get some information from the doctor.
Do you piss seriously? Blurred vision? More details please.
Your numbers are simply slightly high. I doubt that you would be considered diabetic.
you've get gestational diabetes. Your fasting numbers are within "normal" range, but you're still above 120 after hour 2 and 3 (most doctors require it to be at or below 120 after 2 hours). Its not completely high, so you'll likely be asked to control it through a strict diet and with exercise. My wife (pregnant near our 4th) has had gestational diabetes once before, and beside this baby as well. Her levels are profoundly higher than yours (over 100 fasting, and 195 after 2 hours) so they put her in pills (along next to diet and exercise)..and she also takes insulin before bed to keep her morning numbers surrounded by the normal range.
edit: to the entity above who states that 140 is what is allowed..it really depends on the doctor. Both my wife's doctor and OB/GYN agree that 120 is a better number, for tighter control. A lot of other practitioners require 120 as well, but again..it depends on the actual doctor (though 140 is usually the "cut-off" number for non-pregnant people getting tested for diabetes.) Source(s): my wife has G.D.
get an a1c test asap .......that's the true measure...
yes you are and you probably have gestational diabetes which should resolve after your pregnancy. Your doctor will probably put you on a low starch and sugar diet and if you follow it really carefully that should jump a long way toward dealing with your problem. I hope that you take worthy care of yourself and your baby, as this is a serious problem with a simple remedy.
