13 year aged near impermanent blindness spells?
My 13 year old daughter since Jan 2009 has been experiencing conditional blindness spells. It was originally thought to be a side effect of a mediation she was on with some other condition issues. She since hs had her gallbladder removed and everything else is fine, but she is still having these episodes. She describes them as someone turning the lights off after back on. She has NO other symptoms with this and it may ultimate anywhere from 5 secs to 15 mins.
sounds neurological. It could be some form of petit mal seizures. or an atypical requisition. It could also be from a tumor. Or an atypical presentation of a neurological disorder such as Multiple Sclerosis (typically you only have transient blindness in ONE eye and other symptoms). She could hold a genetic disease or infection that affects her optic nerve. Or none of the above or a mix of the above. Really, it could be any number of things.
It sounds like your daughter has some complex form issues. I am glad that she is seeing a specialist (or more than one).
Either bearing, best of luck to you, and I hope that your daughter gets great care and hopefully a solution. Source(s): Pre-med student
hmm, thats weird...i know empire that get like that before they are guna go beyond out, like almost a light headed point when the colors go all weird....but perchance its just her body taking a toll from the surgery.
im not a doctor, so i would just wait to see what the dr. say.
of luck!
Sounds more like some type of seizure disorder to me. I know a woman who goes through this (a form of epilepsy) happen very often in her teens and presently only during PMS at middle age. Let the neurologist sort it out.
You didn't say if your daughter be type 1 diabetic, I suppose if she had a severe enough hypoglycemic episode at some point there may hold been lasting brain damage that might hold caused the emergence of the seizures.
Might as well check her blood sugar, it takes a minute.
My son is 16 and has had type 1 diabetes for 11 months now at first when his sugars be running high he was complaining of not being competent to see. And that things looked blurry. Maybe its just in his sugar levels . See what the doc say ... Good luck
