Am I at risk for diabetes?
I am 21 years old, I am a boy, I am 5' 6", and I weigh 105 lbs. and my measurements are 35-24-36. I believe my body produces proper insulin and no one in my kith and kin has diabetes and I am white, and I never smoke or use drugs. I sometimes drink on the occasion, and I also know my body produces very little testosterone, but I have my hormone levels checked and I have much higher level of estrogen, and I'm not sure if hormones can be a risk factor. But, I am fine, with my hormonal structure, I have more estrogen, rather than testosterone, which be like the same when I was 12, and I am 21 and I look more or less that age, maybe 13-14. I constantly look at myself in the mirror every morning and I am hardly aging at adjectives and I am retaining my boyish glow and beautiful face.
one other query, I know most people get diabetes because they are very overweight, or obese, which I am unambiguously NOT.
But, can being very tall/thin, like me I be a sign of be a risk factor for diabetes, and my hormonal structure, very low testosterone and high (normal) level of estrogen? Please consent to me know.
Answers: having a complex than normal estrogen count as a male makes you difficult risk for diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers, but with your description of your own health and lifestyle, honey, i would verbs more for you being hypoglycemic, or rather having low blood sugar which can product you have headaches, confusion, irritability, and even seizures. create sure you have plenty of protein in your diet, ie beans etc. you could probably advise me on this, lol...but proteins are approaching slow burners of stored energy and this should keep you level throughout the hours of daylight. i compliment you on your activity level and your mindset.
Anybody can be at risk, but it's not only a persons counterweight or poor eating habits, it's genetic also. Diabetes is caused when the pancreas stops producing or produces little insulin. I reckon you will be just fine. Source(s): Have been a diabetic for 19 years.
True, you don't fall into the category of those most likely to become diabetics (being obese, over 40, minority, lack of exercise, heriditary, etc.). However I be never overweight, I worked out at least 5-6 times a week, diabetes did not run in my family, and at the age of 31, I get a stomach virus, and soon after learned the virus knocked out my pancreas.
I'm just adage anyone can become diabetic, but your weight and structure, and the other things you mentioned are not necessarily a risk. --------------------------
