Am I similar to, the individual one who get insulin pump scars/blemishes??!?

I mean, it's not THAT big of a deal, since I put the infusion set on my behind, but, it bothers me sometimes. And it's itchy sometimes to... I have it in mind, my doctor and nurse say "That's perfectly normal" but I know other diabetics and they don't have blemishes close to me. And when I say blemishes, I mean the skin gets dark and flaky and dry and a bit gross? So can anybody reassure me that I'm not the only one to get "perfectly normal" scar??
ks

BTW I'm 11.
Answers:    I get a red spot where the canula went within. The skin is irritated at first, but goes away within a day. If it last longer than that it sounds like you could be allergic to the adhesive in your fussy brand of pump supplies. Maybe ask the nurse if you could try a different brand of set. Also, how long do you leave a site in? The longer you leave it contained by the worse the spots are.
Have you tried different brand sets? Maybe you need a different infusion set like the sure t kind. These sympathetic have a metal needle rather than the plastic cannula and work powerfully especially if you are skinny. This is a bog deal as scarring now will limit where on earth you can put sets in the future.
