Could my five year hoary son hold diabetes?
My five year old son recently had, what we thought and what be told, a virus. About three weeks ago, he was vomiting about once a day, for no adjectives reason. No fever, no sinus drainage, nothing. We took him to two different docs and neither one know for sure what was wrong with him but they both ruled it as a virus. And after a few days he was fine. Now he is starting it again. He have always been the type to want something to drink quite frequelty and lately he tell me is feels shaky when he is hungry. Also, we recently found my husbands bio family. Two of his aunts ultimately died from type 1 diabetes and his grandmother and mother hold it. His doc appt is tomorrow. The reg doc couldnt see him so he will see an PA. They wont do the glucose test tomorrow, it will be a few weeks before they can get him within for it (he is a new patient.) I am going to worry myself sick until later. So I am just wondering if anyone has any info or has experienced this. Please serious answers solely.

Ask yourself if he have had very serious symptoms before this. Tending to be thirsty and shaking when hungry could be diabetes, but could be something else. Having a family connections history makes it more likely, but this could just be a virus. While ruthless, it may just go away. Also, type one diabetes would have incredibly serious symptoms, so probably not if the answer is no. Theres a chance, which I will address, but probably no. He is likely only at risk for type 2, which may not involve shots and is easier to control near diet and exercise. The PA would probably test him if they thought he was high risk, because afterwards hed be in immediate danger
rect answer to your quiz is YES. However, in most cases somebody "could" have something, but it doesnt make it credible! Don't expect it, just be prepared for the worst.

I deliberate if you are concerned take him to the doctors again and INSIST they do a simple finger prick this will almost certainly be a good indication if he is type 1 diabetic. no pious doctor would refuse this.. its very easy and simple!
The doctor's availability should be irrelevant at this point. They don't have to see your son to write orders for blood work if you tell them why you construe it's necessary. But especially since he's a new patient, you'd guess they would want as much info as possible for a complete profile during the first visit.
But since you have this family history info, here's something you might propose:
the PA to write directions (or have the MD write/sign off) for the fasting blood glucose tests. Ask them to product a note in the chart to release the results of the blood test to you by phone.
Then hold the blood work done next day or so. Ask the blood technician when the doctor's office should hold the results. You can then call the Dr.s office the subsequent day and find out the results. By asking them to note the chart for your follow up call, you may trademark eliminate the frustration of trying to get info before the subsequent Dr. visit.
enjoy taken the right steps in getting an appointment with a doctor. In the meantime make sure that you maintain him off sugary and fatty foods - feed him fresh vegetables and lean protein, grainy cereal and bread and keep hold of his water up to help him excrete any extra sugars in defence he is diabetic - this won't cure it but may help - its what doctors recommend as a lifestyle for diabetics - so it will not do any harm until you get him properly tested
Good luck - hope you resolve it soon - kids are precious and we abominate to see them sick and unable to help
