Alternatives contained by keeping cholestrol level underneath control. Not enthusiastic?

on taking statins but if I must I must I suppose. I keep to a good low fat diet; exercise do not smoke once in a blue moon drink but still it is about 6.3UK readings
Answers:    i read that oats (eg porridge) reduce cholesterol. my dad lately got told to improve his diet and his doctor said its had a significant effect on his cholesterol within a short period of time, so maybe you wont need statins if you maintain to a good diet - BUT i prob should emphasise that you shouldnt take my advice over your doctors
Hi, I only just remembered, I never replied to your last email did I? I'll do that now. The only path to reduce blood cholesterol is to reduce the amount of saturated fat in your diet and exercise. Exercise raises HDL (good cholesterol). You could also try increasing your intake of plant sterols (margarine's and salad dressings made with soybean sterols etc) Total Cholesterol desires to be <5mmol/l, however 2 in 3 adults in the UK have a TC plane of >5.0 mmol/l.
ould have been more interesting to have specified your full lipid profile. This always needs to be taken into account when assessing CVD risk. The HDL and LDL requests to be taken into consideration. This is the TC:HDL ratio. You need a high level of HDL and a low rank of LDL. You could have a low HDL and a high LDL and this could indicate high cholesterol risk subsequently down the line.

Alternitvly, you could have a low LDL and a high HDL and be low risk. If, despite the above measures, your cholesterol continues to rise and/or within is a strong family history of high cholesterol then Statins are indicated i'm afraid.
