Answers:    Lets start by talking about heart murmurs. Blood usually flows smoothly into and out of the heart, but if there is a structural abnormality such as a leaky heart tap or a 'hole in the heart' the blood flow though the heart may become turbulent. It is this turbulent blood flow that creates a noise that can be heard near the aid of a stethoscope and is known as a heart murmur.

Murmurs don't always mean that something is wrong beside the structure of the heart - sometimes they are said to be 'innocent' and may disappear when the child lies down for example.
Soft murmur may be classified as Grade II murmur.(Mostly diastolic sounds & valve defect suspected.)
Significant murmurs can be caused by:
* Aortic stenosis
* Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis)
* Mitral regurgitation - acute
* Mitral regurgitation - chronic
* Pulmonary regurgitation (backflow of blood into the right ventricle, caused by failure of the pulmonary spout to close completely)
* Pulmonary stenosis
* Tricuspid regurgitation
* Tricuspid stenosis
* Anomalous pulmonary venous return (an anomalous formation of the pulmonary veins)
* Atrial septal defect (ASD)
* Coarctation of the aorta
* Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)
dren often hold murmurs as a normal part of development. These murmurs do not require treatment, and may include:
* Pulmonary flow murmurs
* Still's murmur
* Venous hum

Many people have heart murmurs, they are often slightly benign and usually do not represent pathology.
simply a noise which can be produced by turbulent blood flow within the heart and great vessels. Most are cause by normal variations in the structure of the heart and lead to no problems. It always needs investigating because occasionally it can represent pathology and be caused by problems beside the heart valves or holes between the pumping chambers.

Most are what we call 'innocent murmurs' An innocent murmur simply means that even though there may be an abnormality within the heart cause the murmur, unless it's effecting the hearts performance, it is quite average and no action needs to be taken. Most innocent murmurs occur because blood is person pumped faster than normal or usual. Some murmurs are only audible under in no doubt conditions, for example if you have a high fever, or a promptly heart rate.
