Do blood pressure and cholesterol prescription trademark you surface dizzy, nauseated, achy and sick adjectives the time?
My PCP Dr is a real Drama Queen. My BP is 126/78 and cholesterol 208. He insisted that I go on medicine for both. He put me on 20 mgs of Lisinopril for the BP and 10 mgs of Zocor for cholesterol.
I stand up I almost faint I'm so dizzy (I'm panicky to drive anymore for fear I'll pass out behind the reins.) My muscles ache all the time, I'm nauseated and feel approaching I have the flu 24/7. I've told him this twice in the past two months and he keep saying to stay on the medication and that I'll get "used to it."
I went to see a cardiologist for a second belief and he said that he wouldn't have gone to such an aggressive treatment for BP and cholesterol that are just slightly over what they should be.

Muscle pain can be a sign of rhabdomyolysis a condition where on earth the muscle tissue is breaking down. Zocor can cause this to occur. A general rule of thumb when it comes to medication is. Don't take them unless you absolutely have no other alternative. Your BP isn't discouraging enough for antihypertensives unless you are routinely over 130-135 systolic or routinely over 90 diastolic. Most people have cholesterol level greater than 200 because of the poor diets and fast food places. Unless your cholesterol gets over 250, I would dump the Zocor too. Why subject yourself to potential adverse reactions unless the benefits clearly outweigh the risks. This is my personal evaluation. The best thing to do is talk to the doctor again to see if you have other risk factor for coronary artery disease that would merit both medications on a patient with boarderline cholesterol and questionable hypertesion. Then, you resolve for yourself if the benefits outweigh the side effects and potential for muscle problems or worse yet, liver problems. Good luck.
You should be taking/measuring your BP yourself to see if you are running too low at times... and you should take orthostatic BP's when you have symptoms of attitude dizzy or light-headed. There are many types of BP medications that work in different ways... Lisinopril might not be a accurate choice for you. You are not exactly hypertensive...but, you base it on a number of readings. Most inhabitants are elevated more than usual at the doctor's office so it isn't always the best BP reading to go by. The Zocor 10 mg is a low dose... BUT, a significant and concerning adverse sensitivity is the one you are describing... there are other medications that can be used instead of a statin.
e was one study that correlateover the moonle that have very low cholesterol tend to have better occurances of depession (a curious finding).
