Can anxiety motive mitral tap prolapse?

Mitral valve prolapse is a structural abnormality of the mitral valve leaflets, in that they bow hindmost into the left atrium, often causing the stopcock to be a bit 'leaky' (there are varying degrees of severity of MVP usually assessed by echocardiography). Therefore, if you have mitral valve prolapse, you enjoy it all the time. As it is a structural thing, it does not come and go near anxiety, stress etc. nor would those things have caused the mitral valve prolapse surrounded by the first place. Hope that helps! Some forms of mitral valve prolapse seem to be passed down through family (inherited). Mitral valve prolapse has been associated near Marfan syndrome (a disorder present from birth) and Graves disease.
people beside mitral valve prolapse may also have a hole in their heart call an atrial septal defect.
The most common cause is idiopathic myxomatous degeneration. Source(s): http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/…
