Can an ECG be wrong.....?

My father had an ECG done recently and it showed he had a heart attack. But he never feel it. He can walk just fine without losing his breath, even climb a flight of stairs.

He have sleep apnea. Is it possible he didn't have a heart attack and what appears is due to his sleep apnea?
Answers:    Its call a silent heart attack
I'm guessing the test showed elevated ST segment, which indicate heart damage, but will not tell exactly where the impairment was. He needs a Cardiac Catheter to be done, where dye is injected & you can see if at hand are blocked arteries present. He also should probably have a stress test as well as full cardiac labs done, and an echocardiogram to see the heart functions. I'm surprised he hasn't have this.He should. And the sleep apnea has nothing to do with the EKG. Please obtain him back to the doctor for follow up.
If he doesn't take care of his sleep apnea, it could hold caused some damage to the heart.
Yes, ECG can be false positive. But there are other ways to confirm, like level of cardiac enzymes in blood. This may be silent cardiac attack, which is commonly seen in diabetics.
He might need an additional carrying out tests done (stress test; sometimes specific blood test is performed surrounded by acute stages to confirm MI). Coronary angiogram can be offered as diagnostic test to map coronary arteries/ diagnose blockage and identify the collateral circulation.
Nope its right, he prob. did feel it, he just blew off the symptoms. Lucky man Source(s): nurse
