Just get 12 wk pit bull pup, round worms within stool after 1st vaccine? is add'l deworming necry?

I also have a mini chihuahua 2 yrs old with adjectives her vaccines, she has been around the pup with worms for a couple weeks & I did not know just about worms until they showed in her stool after shots, they appear dead. How much possibility that my mini could now also hold roundworms? Is Add'l deworming needed for pup & for how long? Being that the pup has had worms probably since birth could she also have Tapes or other fleas?
Answers:    Tapeworms isn't what you need to be worried about, it's heart worms... that will kill a dog. It depends on the type of vaccine used, it may massacre and or prevent all parasitic worms, however I WOULD NOT recommend additional worming if it has already be wormed. If the puppy passed worms after the vaccine that is very normal and to be expected. This will appear for the next week or so. Your puppy is young, don't over medicate, it will kill her smoothly. Essentially, most of all of those wormers are poison as it is. But as far as I know, most wormers cover most parasitic worms except for heart worms, and as I said, that is the most absolute worst. At least possible call the vet clinic and ask for advice... but additional wormer is closer to a extermination sentence than assistance. As for your 2 yr old dog, worming is required over certain periods of time, they are newly more prone to worms as pups. They still require worming periodically and heart worm prevention REGULARLY. If your two yr old dog has come into contact with this puppy until that time or after worming, they will need it as well. I would medicate the chihuahua again as soon as possible unless you are in between worming period. I hope this will help you. It's good that they are dead. I'd contact your vet right away, he'll probably want a stool sample. They will also pilfer blood samples to try and determine if there is anything else present.
