How serious is the swine flu within a newborn?

We have the swine flu going around in my town, I have three kids 8yr antiquated, 5yr old, and 1yr old, it worries me to even think around them catching it. How serious is it in children?
Answers:    The swine flu is just the flu. Just a different type. Brayden got the flu this year and be tested for swine but didn't have it. It's just another way the policy gets us a wired up and making money. Either way- with any type of flu- they are going to give children pretty much impossible to tell apart meds. Brayden ran a fever of 104 so they gave him a supository of Tylenol up his butt lol and after a prescription of Theraflu or something...I dont remember the exact name of it. But it helped Brayden and after a few days he was rear to normal :)

But yeah it CAN be serious- just like any disease or sickness within kids..or anyone for that matter. Just keep their hands wash and keep them away from sick people or strangers. You can only do so much. Just hold on to an eye on everything :)
Children are more expected to catch this flu than the typical flu that occurs each year, but the severity of this flu have turned out to be less than the typical flu. It causes the most severe effects in infantile children, and the CDC recommends the vaccine for children. A vaccine for this flu is being manufactured, and it should be available sometime in the subsequent 2 months, probably in October. Source(s): http://www.ajc.com/news/cdc-lists-swine-…
I can be fatal. Infants immune systems aren't as strong as adults. It can cause serious bad health.
from what I've read, the younger children are not coping so well with the swine flu in comparison to the more mature. However, this is a flu like any other, if the children are fit and healthy to start with, they will probably get hold of over it with no problems. There are so many things for us to worry something like nowadays, try and relax, kids get about 20 colds a year anyway to revise to build up a good immune system against them.
It seems to be a pretty serious condition in infants/children. It say here that infants fall into one of the groups at risk for more serious complications. The Center for Disease Control states, “Research has shown that children less than 5 years of age are at large risk of serious flu-related complications.” Children who have pre-existing health conditions are going to enjoy further elevated risk of complications.

The symptoms of novel H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include hallucination, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue”. Babies showing these symptoms do not necessarily have the Swine Flu but should be watch closely for more serious complications.

Most cases of Swine Flu, including cases in infants and toddlers, will resolve without medical attention by using tylenol or motrin according to the babies weight.
It's the most dangerous in children and the elderly. If one of your kids catch it, they could die.
