The sudden, frequent urge to urinate, would indicate a urinary tract infection. It's called urge incontinence, but the bladder is irritated and the muscles go into a spasm that demands a bathroom. If it's a kidney infection, at hand might be tenderness in back basically under the ribs, where the kidneys are protected. When bad plenty, it hurts to walk or jog or jump, and the ankles would be swollen.
hould drink several eyeglasses of cranberry juice over a day or two, to clear it up. Or ask a pharmacist for Azo pills, which are made from cranberries. I haven't tried them, as cranberry juice is so important.

The off & on poking sensation could be caused by trying to pass a kidney stone or gravel. I apprehend this can be excruciating pain if the stone is large enough or have sharp points. I have reason to believe cranberry juice may dissolve kidney stones, also.
