Answers: Amy, gratefulness for emailing me about this.
2. Prevention: Anthrax is primarily a disease of animals, so avoiding livestock in countries where on earth anthrax is common is one way to avoid anthrax; avoiding animal products when in countries where on earth anthrax is common is another way. Animals get anthrax by grazing on soils contaminated near anthrax spores. Anthrax in people is usually the result of a work-related exposure to infected animals or contaminated animal products. Anyone who is at risk for anthrax can be vaccinate against it.
3. Anthrax is caused by Bacillus anthracis, a bacterium that lives naturally in faultless types of soil. The bacterium produces spores. Spores are extremely hardy and can survive in soil or on contaminated objects for years. People get anthrax by touching infected animals or by handling animal products, such as wool, hides, leather, or spine products (especially goat hair). The bacteria get into the body through a break in the skin (cuts, scrapes). And surrounded by rare cases, people can get anthrax by breathing surrounded by anthrax spores from contaminated soil or animal products or by eating undercooked meat from infected animals.
e are lots and lots of websites that discuss all the aspects of anthrax. If you need to cite sources, merely run a search for "anthrax", "treatment for anthrax", "source of anthrax", and "anthrax vaccine", okay Amy?
Thanks again for contacting me about this. Next time, just email me in need posting a question. That way, others won't give answers to a interrogate addressed to me. Source(s): I'm a nurse.
This highly deadly disease is toxic in both humans and animals. There is a vaccine out now. There are also some antibiotics that are effective against the germs too. This also can form spores and live in the soil and skins of dead animals and found in seedless soil. Since I'm not tweety bird ( she is usually in infectious diseases ) I'll try to help you here. I'm not too sure how much info you need or what you want it for, but I have allot of best answers too. Since it's the source of the info you need I have found wikipedia to be a great resource and do most of my research in that. I also use webmd.com allot too. I do know some others to be helpful like yahoo health and living raw for some types of home treatments and healthy living etc. Actually today you can also google just about anything except results of lab test and terms in health. I hope this give you a great amount of research for whatever your needs are for. Good luck and God Bless
