Q something like an infected finger?

Got a phone call the other day from my boyfriends ex wife who said that their daughter's finger was infected by a cut she get when she was with us....now, if her finger be truly infected, wouldn't she have had to take their daughter to the doctor to be put on some sensitive of antibiotic?
