Are my tonsils infected?
So a few weeks ago I had a terrible cough and now I be looking in the mirror and I notice my right tonsil has a few pretty red scratch and something with an off-whitish color, about 2 millimeters long on it. My aunt had an infection similar to this except adjectives of the tonsils were white. So tell me are they infected? Will I have to attain the removed?

Answers: Sweetie, I'm 59 years old and have have trouble with my tonsils all of my life. You will solely have to get them taken out if you want them to. Until you can get to a doctor try a saline water gargle and also the throat chlorseptic helps some. I hope you feel better soon Honey. I've be there and done that many times.
The white area could be pus but it could also be something else. If you have tonsillitis (infected tonsils) you would also have a sore throat and you didn't mention this; the cough from a few weeks ago probably isn't connected to this current situation unless it's still present and you hold a sore throat. Take a Q-tip and try to wipe the white off the tonsil - it could be pus, food, blanched appearing tissue due to red tissue surrounding it, etc. Source(s): Had my tonsils out at age 38!
If you have a cough and sore tonsils, it's probably not your tonsils that are infected, it's more then likely you own just had a cold/flu and the sore throat has irritated the nouns around your tonsils. Source(s): me......<3
My daughter had chronic tonsillitis and she didn't get a cough. She would win sick to the point of vomiting and run a high fever. Her throat would hurt a lot. You probably own strep throat but you should see a doctor to be sure. It used to be that doctors would routinely remove people's tonsils when they got sick but nowadays, they only remove tonsils surrounded by extreme cases such as chronic tonsillitis or if the they interfere with breathing.
I had chronic tonsillitis and finally got my tonsils out end week so I consider myself fairly knowledgeable on tonsils.
ou have white spots on your tonsils later you might have strep. You won't know for sure unless you go to the dr, who might refer you to an ENT. And ENT would assess your tonsils and then might remove them. Usually you wont receive your tonsils out for one case of strep. You have to have chronic issues or acquire strep or tonsillitis more than 3 times a year.
I will warn you though: the older you are, the more painful the surgery is. I'm within my 20s and it was the worst pain I've ever been within. Its more painful than childbirth.
it is possible. why don't you just step to a doctor? that would make a lot more sense then asking on here.
