Smoking cigarettes and mononucleosis (EBV)?

Hi all, I am recovering from what I believe is mononucleosis (also known as Epstein-Barr Virus). The blood test will be within soon but I am pretty sure it's EBV.
ow that cigarettes are pretty toxic to begin with, but does smoking them while recovering from mono have any new negative consequences? Someone I spoke with claimed that this can increase your chances for lymphoma, and I guess that sounds ridiculous...
Answers:    i dont think so but it seems like smoking beside mono would be extremly painful.
