Tamiflu Given Under Dr's Discrection?
What the hell does this mean? Just been on NHS Direct website, and it says that very soon they are in treatment mode, as opposed to prevention mode, the Dr can use their discretion to provide Tamiflu to those who they think own swine flu, if they are in the high risk category. So as a 28 year old women, beside no medical conditions, even if I presented with the symptoms, it is upto my Dr whether to give me the meds I need!??!
t the drift your feeling. I am not a mother or father, but I do understand that as a parent of course you would extremely worry about your children, especially swine would kill culture and the death rate is so high in UK for some reason.
Don't worry first. If your son have a high disorientation over (38.5C) do not bother to wait and phone up NHS Direct. Just go to see his GP. If the fever happen at night or weekend, phone up NHS 24 and they may arrange an appointment for your son at the hospital within few hours.
Nevertheless, swine flu is a 'new' virus to human, therefore it is possible for some unexperienceed doctor to confuse swine flu and tonsilitis. Just go and see a doctor or phone up NHS if things getting discouraging. Source(s): myself
what you have posted here is a rant, not even a valid question. this is not the place for you to rant. Source(s): RN
Ok just settle down. I agree near the first poster- you are ranting and this is not very constructive. Because we are now in the 'treatment' stage, within was talk of giving Tamiflu to only those who who hold known medical risk factors, but in street light of the fact that a seemingly healthy person died closing week, this plan has been postponed until more in specified about the virus.
For the time being, anyone who presents flu like symptoms and/or have been in contact with someone who have swine flu you will be given the antiviral drugs. You are completely over reacting about this and it's because of people are becoming hysterical that in attendance is this mass panic.
le are getting worked up simply because there have be reports of deaths in the media. Thousands die of swine flu respectively year and the only reason you are not worried about explicitly because there isn't mass hysteria regarding it. Can I just point out that of adjectives the people who have had swine flu, most own made a complete recovery without medical intervention- even those with prearranged risk factors.
Also, of the 14 or so people in the UK who hold reportedly died from swine flu, it needs to be determined which of those people actually died FROM swine flu and those relations who actually died WITH swine flu- there is a significant difference. The girl who had the spasm a few weeks back for example; it sounds like she died as a result of the seizure which could be not related to swine flu, she may have coincidentally had swine flu but that may not have be a direct cause of her death.
his stage, all you know is that this little girl who died, only just so happened to have swine flu. You do not know if that was the exact rationale of her death.
When I said girl with the seizure I am chitchat about the girl who died a few weeks back. I used her case as an example. We have need of to wait until the EXACT cause of death have been confirmed. This recent death could well hold been caused by swine flu but we cannot assume.
ink you are over-reacting. If you are not pleased with the diagnosis then ask again or ask for a swab, but it is too late to rob the meds anyway. They need to be given at the first sign.
Also, you, and everyone else in a country of 60 million with the cold is convinced they enjoy swine flu. They can't give it out to everyone otherwise there will be none left.
The origin they diagnose it over the phone is because if everyone flocks to their GP it will spread it more, and they want people with swine flu to stay at home. If you read the site properly you would see that it is easy to bring back the drugs, if they think you have it you will be given a code or a voucher that someone else should use to collect your meds so you don't wander through crowds. Your issue here is paranoia.
a throat swab can be done for H1N1, stir to cdc.gov for more info. It has been quietly upped to pandemic status. hope you and kids discern better.. Source(s): RN
I think they are just giving tamiflu to people near symptoms instead of people who have been contained by contact with a case.
When I went to my GP (THe surgery be closed so no one was there) I was swabbed and given tamiflu as I have symptoms. The next day I got my results ( I know fast, but I was the first case in our nouns, I got it from a relative who lives far away, and had no symptoms then, his symptoms come the next day).
the Dr swabbed me he was sure I was gloomy because I seem my nephew before he had symptoms. Anyway I get my positive result and the people I live with only get tamiflu if they had symptoms with the exception of my baby who get a liquid form and my daughter who has asthma.
My friends who I had be with at the start of my illness before I know or even thought it was swine flu, were not given tamiflu as they had no symptoms next to the exception of my friend who is a nurse, she didn't even take time off work, she was told she be OK to go back so long as she had no symptoms.
