High WBC count within 3-month-old?

Okay here's the thing:
as been tested for everything from leukemia to meningitis to staph infections, and all of his blood work and cultures hold come back negative.
He was on antibiotics for 3 days the first time, and 4 days the second time. This final time, his WBC started dropping after the 4th day, and his spinal fluid was clear, so they sent him home.

But, at his follow-up appointment yesetrday, his WBC was spinal column up YET again, in the 30 range, and he had a mild frenzy of around 100 degrees (which is now gone, without the relief of tylenol or ibuprofen) and I have to take him back on Monday to own it re-checked.
anybody had this problem? If so, what did it turn out to be? The doctors are completely stumped on this one, because aside from the high white count and frequent fevers, my son is nutritious as a horse. He's eating, playing, sleeping, laughing, smiling, doing all of the normal toddler stuff, and all of his other blood work has been typical straight across the map.

This really worries me, because it seems like an infection that just won't dance away. But without other symptoms they say they can't figure out what it is contained by order to further treat him. They have me in a "holding pattern" so to speak, after consulting near doctors at the University of Kentucky hospital, who are supposedly the best doctors in the state. His pediatrician is coordinating with two infectious disease doctors, one bone marrow expert, and one childhood diseases expert from UK.

Answers:    Without anymore symptoms this is incredibly difficult!

Has the baby be around anyone who has been to any tropical countries? Or have you be anywhere tropical because it does sound like it maybe a tropical disease.

If you spy anymore symptoms or anything at all that may help email me antbourne(a)mobileemail.vodafone.net and I will be contented to help but unfortunately theres not much more I can do without anything further
Sounds approaching something from "Mystery Diagnosis" on TV. It may take a long time to figure it out, all they can do meanwhile is maintain him comfortable (supportive care). I know it's hard, just try to be patient (but don't administer up, be aggressive with the doctors to keep searching). Hopefully they will find out what it is soon.
