After the fluid drains out, will the sunset eyes become common?

My niece found with hydrocephalus, and did surgery and put shunt. but her eyes seems like not conventional. It does not look like earlier. I read it is called sunset of eyes. Will it become regular eyes after the water drains out ?
Answers:    Once her head returns to a normal size (I assume she is a baby), your niece's "sunset eyes" will also return to ordinary.
after futher info:
Ok, she is getting a bit old to have mobile sutures (so her head can't really "sink in" once the fluid starts draining). Sounds close to none of her shunts have worked spectacularly. You are correct in that, once the shunt is adequately controlling her pressure, her eyes will normalise.

If within is doubt about the new shunt working, the doctors can "tap the valve" - this involves putting a plunger through the scalp into the shunt reservoir / valve and assessing the pressure and drainage.
when was the shunt placed? Sunset eyes are also a symptom of a shunt malfunction. The fluid should be drained in a day or two. So, if it has been more consequently that since the original surgery, she needs to be taken back to the hospital ASAP! Source(s): I own hydro and a VA shunt.
