My Dad have gout on his big toe and from the knees down his leg is red and the toe is swollen. Is this mundane?
Also, his urine smells like acetone.
Answers: one of the worst things with gout ,is eating sharp foods, your dad needs a injection of vitamin b , to ease the problem ,if his urine smells, that's a good sign that the kidneys , are flushing out the toxins ,hang on to up the fluids ,if he can`t walk to the toilet ,( ouch its real pain full ) he will hold to use a bucket ,
Redness and swelling of an extremity is not a normal thing. It may be related to gout, but it may be something adjectives together different like a deep vein thrombosis, or an infectious cellulitis. It is may warrant a trip to urgent care/ER sooner fairly than later.

Oh my, this does NOT sound good at adjectives. He should be in the ER right now. This sounds like diabetes and except treated, he could loose his limbs or even death. Please take this seriously and consult a doctor or progress to the hospital. Immediate medical attention is needed. Good Luck!
That sounds like untreated diabetes. That can be fatal so he should either walk to the doctor about it or go to a pharmacy and buy a blood sugar meter and test his blood for dignified sugar levels.
