Kidney transplant? Have you have one?
My brother donated one of his kidneys to his eldest son today in London, both are doing well. My brother is out of theatre and my nephew is still in attendance. What type of week will they both have in recovery? Whats it approaching? Do you know? Thanks.
Answers: that's an amazing thing your brother did post op he wil take the longer to rest but if hes fit an healthy he will be ok your nephews quality off existence will be 100% better than it has been
the poster above me said is correct, so I'm just adding a bit.
Success rates are roughly even better w/ a living donor.
I'm coming to the party, so be sure to distribute me an invite!
I had a kidney transplant last year after four years of dialysis. The way it change your life is just amazing and I am so grateful to my donors family for making the finding to donate. I think about my donor every day and I will other be grateful to them.
Saw some living donor transplants when I was in. It can be rough on the donor and he will be a bit sore for a few days but will soon be back to conventional so try not to worry.
recipient will need to establish a drug regime and trade name sure that the kidney is functioning properly. Take it from me, as soon as he comes round from his operation he will look better and feel better. He will have more energy and be capable of eat and drink normally. There may or may not be some early signs of rejection - if at hand aren't - great, but if there are don't be too downcast because the hospital can sort it out. It very rarely go so badly wrong that they can't sort it. My kidney didn't work straight away but kicked in after a week. I was within hospital for 11 days.
Hand on heart, getting a transplant is better than winning the Lottery.
(1) is the wound healing cleanly and short infection
(2) is the kidney passing lots of urine? (yes is better)
(3) is the kidney clearing the blood properly (they will test for this)
t worry if he have to have a few sessions of dialysis to "kick start" the kidney. I had to hold some and mine is working brilliantly now (Thank God!)
Depending on how long he was on dialysis before (i.e. how heaps years he has been suffering misery and discomfort, he will of course, inevitability to have a HUGE party ;-)
, but I heard many Palestinians become involuntary organ donors for Israelis. Maybe ask them? Oh hang around, they're killed first.
Edit: Anything better to do? Well excuuuuuuuuuse me for educating you.
well my friend there is no much effect to the Donor as ur brother must be having a second surefire kidney..
he recipient,,,, yes he might have usual UTI probs and may need regular elevated dose drugs to reduce his immunity..the 5 year survival after transplant is very apposite (80%) 10 year survival is 50%...
all the best for ur borther and nephew
