Antibiotic-caused diarrhea?

i am required to take three 500mg Penicillen pills everyday, for 10 days. this poses a problem. i had painful cramps, and diarrhea possibly 3-4 hours after taking the first pill. 5 of those 10 days i have school, and i would rather not be running to the bathroom. adjectives i wish to know is how to prevent it. i've heard of probiotics, but the only item i can think of that we have is Activia yogurt. i'm afraid to try it, though, because i read it causes bloating and unpromising cramps. any other suggestions? i took a pill an hour and a half ago, so i'll be up crapping at 1-2 in the morning.
Answers:    Antibiotics will usually cause diarrhea, especially if you hold them for a long time. This is because there are healthy bacteria that live within your gut and aid in digestion and an antibiotic doesn't discriminate--it tries to kill all germs, no matter if they are bad or good.
via is one choice and, no it doesn't effect bad cramping--definitely not more than an antibiotic would. I don't think it is that effective, though. One that worked seriously for me was Yakult, which can also be bought in the dairy aisle at the store. I didn't notice any difference when taking Activia but big difference beside Yakult--it stopped the diarrhea the second day of taking it I think. Another good choice are the pill forms of probiotics. Some right to be heard that the bacteria isn't viable in pill form, but these work best for me--Acidophilus Pearls is one kind that say on the box that you can keep it at room temperature, and then within are several others with lactobacillus bacteria that say to keep hold of them in the fridge, and were effective for me.

Note that not adjectives of the pill form probiotics are effective, so I would research the specific kind you are going to buy before paying closely. Just google the name and see what others have to say in the region of it or go to Amazon.com and type in the name of the specific product and see how others rate it. You can do that with Yakult and also with the Acidophilus Pearls.
Stop taking them, you are getting a reaction.Call your Doctor.
