I enjoy an issue near my bowel movements...?

I have just found out that I have colitis. I own been on the steroids for two weeks as of tomorrow. However, my poop itself is extremely bloody and the entire bowl ends up having a lot of blood to. Sometimes even more than you would see near a period. Can anyone speculate as to what this may be? Thank you for any help.
