Kidney stone have ancient. but still urinating blood?

my dad had shocking pains around his hips and lower back, when he urinated blood came out so we rushed him to hospital. they done a scan and said its most plausible kidney stones but the stones arent coming up in the xray so he most likely peed it out already.
only problem is that he is still urinating lots of blood.
the doctors sent him home beside antibiodics.
is this normal to still pee blood after the stone has passed
Answers:    Passing the stone can scratch the bin liner of his urethra. That may cause some bloody urine for a couple of days. If it hasn't cleared up by then, he should get a second view. Barring that, no need to worry.
Actually yes. The same thing happen to my father. The stones are sharp and make little cuts inside which can bleed.
