Is it possible if a being needed a kidney that their brother could not be a game?

I just remembering hearing somewhere that a person needed a kidney and their brother be not a match. What are the reasons they do not match, but other inhabitants in their family possibly can? Is it different types of blood? I know I probably seem really stupid, but I be just wondering.
