Why do I enjoy a lump above my ear?

I am 17, and several days ago, I noticed above my ear, above where the ear branches off from my go before, there is a small, soft lump. It is smaller than a pea and can be moved very easily, but is somewhat tender to touch. My scalp have been very itching lately so I am wondering if I have an infection and the swelling is a swollen lymph node, or it could be a cyst, seeing as how the bump is skin colored.
