I enjoy lymphedema what exercise?
must i do i was thinking use a exercise bike is this wise i live in uk and i cannot shift to gym please advise
Answers: Do you know what is causing the edema? I'm only guessing that you are referring to the edema self in the legs. Doctor's may be able to use medication to help control the fluids depending on the underlying condition. If you are competent to get to a pool, aqua therapy is extremely helpful for leg edema - within fact, the water compressing the leg is what gave Jobst the unproved idea to make compression hose. Which brings me to ask if you are using compression stockings? Also, try to keep your leg(s) elevated above your heart at darkness and as often as needed throughout the day. Walking helps the calf pump blood support up to the heart (again that's if the edema is in your legs) so walking would be something you may want to do as often as needed, but I wouldn't overdo it and remember to wear the compression hose even during those walks. The compression hose should be used adjectives day/night until you are ready for bed (you shouldn't have the hose on while elevating). If you are in a position where on earth you have to sit and/or stand often, again wearing the compression hose, you can learn how to exercise your calf muscle by doing the dorsal flex (keeping your foot on the floor flat, bringing your toes upwards as you check out of your heel on the floor) and make time to walk every 1/2 hour or so - even if that walk is merely for 5 minutes at a time. If you are seeing a vascular doctor for this, ask for the prescription compression hose and if the edema is severe ask if he/she can prescribe meds to help rid of the fluids and also ask if you can utilize a "lymphedema pump". I don't know if you would need a prescription for that in the UK, they require a prescription here within the US.
