Liver Failure? What can I do?
My friend was recently diagnosed with Toxic Shock Syndrome, and as of yesterday, she be released from the Intensive Care Unit and placed in a regular hospital room. Earlier today, I found out that she has liver failure due to the overwhelming stress put on her liver for former times week or so fighting off the toxins in her body.
doctors suspect that she may have need of a liver transplant, and although we cannot live without our liver, is there anything I can do aside from giving her mine and dying?
I was wondering, since the liver is the individual organ in the body that can regenerate itself (from upwards of 25% stability) is it possible that if her liver matched mine, or was compatible, that I would be able to make a contribution her some of my liver in hopes that it would regenerate?
